Lately, automotive manufacturers seem to be competing to embed advanced security features in each unit. Four-wheel vehicle security technology is developing. However, it turned out that it was not enough to prove the safety of a vehicle. Therefore, every new automotive manufacturer can get back if it has got a decent safety value on a car crash test.
The car crash test circuit is an official procedure that must be passed by every commercial vehicle. Similar tests are carried out on continental Europe, America and Asia. For the ASEAN region, a four-wheel vehicle security assessment program is known as the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP).
In the trial session, not only the security features such as braking were noticed, but also the durability of the car received a collision from various directions. The test starts from the blow directed towards the nose of the car filled with the driver and the puppet passenger. Similar sessions are also intended to measure collisions on the head of the driver. In addition to front collisions, side collisions and pedestrian crash tests were also applied. If the physical injury of the driver and passenger is low, the higher the safety value of the vehicle obtained. The scoring system for each program differs, for example ASEA NCAP provides a score of one to five stars as a result of the accumulation of scores for each experiment.
Of the many programs assessing vehicle safety through a car crash test, the rear crash test seems to be often overlooked. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) became the first to present a car crash test program at the tail. According to IIHS, the test can increase the safety of the rear car 78%. (IA)
